At Nokia World 2013, held yesterday in Abu Dhabi, the Finnish company announced its new product lines, with innovative technical features and the arrival of interesting mobile applications for Windows Phone users.

Nokia World 2013 was the scenario chosen for presenting the company’s new mobile devices and other quite interesting news, which we summarize today in this post at Think Big.
Lumia 1520: the first Windows Phone phablet is official
During the presentation of Nokia World 2013 we attended the launch of the first phablet using Windows Phone. For $ 749, we can acquire the Lumia 1520, with a 6-inch AMOLED, Full HD screen and 20 Mpx camera with PureView and OIS (Optical Image Stabilization).
Sporting a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor and 3,400 mAh battery, the new Lumia 1520 has some really interesting features, to which we must add the increased screen size, which allows an extra column of live-tiles. Undoubtedly, its powerful processor and the good camera that comes with this model are features that make the Lumia 1520 an attractive terminal.
As we shall see, the presentation of the Lumia 1520 introduces a new device within the category of so-called high-end devices. Plus, during Nokia World 2013 the company also unveiled the Nokia 1320, which we’ll discuss below, a model falling within the low-end category.
The first Finnish tablet is here: Nokia 2520
Besides the presentation of the first Windows Phone phablet we mentioned earlier, at Nokia World 2013 the Finnish company announced its first tablet: the Nokia 2520. At 10.1 inches and with a full HD display, this innovative tablet will be available in several colours (red, white, cyan and black).
The 2520 model will also feature Windows RT 8.1, a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 8000 processor, 4G LTE, 2GB of RAM and an 8000 mAh battery. In short, the technical features of this tablet make this model a very attractive entry-level device in the company’s new product line.
Also during the Nokia World 2013 event, the firm presented a keyboard case, which is quite similar to the one on the Surface. Priced at $150, it seems that this announcement is just the beginning of the collaborative effort expected of Nokia and Microsoft in the coming months.
Nokia Lumia 1320: an economical version of the Lumia 1520
The Nokia World 2013 event has provided us a variety of new products from the Finnish company. Above, we spoke of the Lumia 1520’s features. Now we’ll summarize features of the Lumia 1320 a cheaper model than the first, with more modest technical specifications.
In this case were talking of a device with a 6-inch screen, featuring a 400 Qualcomm Snapdragon processor (dual-core at 1.7 GHz). Besides having a 3,400 mAh battery, and a 5 megapixel camera with a LED flash, the Nokia 1320 comes with Windows Phone 8.1.
Comparing this with the Lumia 1520 or the familiar 1020 model, this new terminal is one step behind those two devices and is sold to users at an attractive price. It is expected to hit the market later this year at a price of $339.
Three new low-end Asha smartphones
Today we have seen the new Nokia Asha 500, Asha 502 and Asha 503 models. These three mobile devices join the already familiar Asha 501 to focus on low-end devices and emerging markets. The three terminals are quite similar to one another, and only differ in the camera, 3G connectivity, Gorilla Glass protection and the screen .
All three models will hit the market in coming months, with prices ranging from $69 to $99. They will also be available in a range of colours and all have 64 MB RAM, 4 GB internal memory expandable via microSD and a 2 megapixel camera (Asha 500) or 5 megapixel camera with LED flash (Asha 502 and 503).
Other novelties presented
In addition to the devices mentioned above, Nokia’s event in Abu Dhabi brought other interesting announcements. For one thing, Windows Phone users can now enjoy applications like Instagram, Flipboard and Vine.
Nokia World 2013 has also unveiled new exclusive applications: Nokia Storyteller, Nokia Video Director and Nokia Beamer are three apps that enable photos and videos to be integrated into one interactive timeline as well as easier real time video editing and content sharing.
Another of the company’s announcements focused on improvements in mobile photography. To this end, Nokia has said that the 1020 and 1520 Lumia models can take pictures in the RAW format, becoming the first mobile devices with this important feature. This news will help improve the colour depth of the images taken with these smartphones, and make later photographic editing easier.
Along with photography in the RAW format, Nokia also announced that all PureView terminals will have the Refocus feature that will allow users to change the focus of images after they have been taken. This second announcement is a step forward in mobile photography.
Finally, the Nokia World 2013 has meant more than just the arrival of new products and features for mobile devices. In Abu Dhabi one final accessory was unveiled that is becoming part of the Nokia family: the DC-50 wireless charger designed exclusively for the Lumia Series. It will be priced at around 99 dollars.
As we can see, yesterday’s event in the United Arab Emirates has involved the presentation of a large variety of new developments in the mobile market, with the introduction of new mobile devices into a highly competitive and innovative industry.
